It’s Budget Tip Tuesday! I hope you all enjoy these as much as I enjoy sharing them with you. Every little bit counts when it comes to your money, so I hope to help you make the most of every penny you have. It all adds up, which brings me to this week’s tip…
Shop in bulk! And I do not mean shop in bulk at the Coach store or Target’s clothing section. I know it’s tough. My weakness is the Target Dollar Spot. Whoever is designing the stuff right now…kudos! haha. I try to limit my purchases from that glorious area to a few dollars as a fun reward to myself, but back to shopping in bulk.
We have a membership to Sam’s Club and love to pick up some of the things we use often there instead of at Publix or another grocery store. Buying staples in larger sizes and at their discounted rate can save you so much in the long run. For me, one of the main things I like to save money on is cereal. I eat cereal for breakfast almost every morning, and cereal is not cheap these days. Sometimes it can run up to $5 a box for the big sizes. At Sam’s Club, I can get the cereal I enjoy for way less per box and it lasts longer because I get it in a larger size. We also pick up things like paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates (great for parties or when we’re in a hurry), meat like ground beef or chicken breasts, Simply Lemonade (love that stuff!), tortillas, and many other odds and ends.
We just try to think of the things we use most often and buy those things in bulk. You will save money and also be stocked up for a while on your staples, which means less driving to the grocery store! Or, at least a shorter trip to the grocery store when you do go to just pick up a few things you need to complete a meal.
I also try to pay attention to the newspaper sales printouts and when the things I like go on sale Buy One Get One Free, I always stock up. Stores like Publix and Winn Dixie offer these types of sales all the time, so make sure to take advantage of them.
Happy, smart shopping!
