How to Find Your Passion

by Ashley Trotier

It seems like a strange time to write about this in a way, but it also seems like the perfect time. So, today I’m sharing some of my personal tips for finding your passion(s)! You can definitely have more than one. I know I do.

I want to start out by saying your passion does not have to become a business. It can also become a business. You get to choose. I have a passion that I turned into a business and I have others that I did not. In my case, I turned my passion for creativity into a design business. I also have a passion for organizing and I do it purely for my own enjoyment in my free time because it truly makes me happy!

To help find your passion, ask yourself these questions:

What do you like to do for fun?

What makes you smile?

What makes your heart feel good?

What do you love?

What do you think about the most when you daydream?

What would you do for a job if money were no issue?

What are you naturally good at?

What do you do that other people always compliment you on?

These are a good start for keying into what your passion or passions may be, but I have to say, it’s actually very simple. Passions are not something that should be hard to figure out. It shouldn’t take much thinking, because it has to be felt in the heart. If you have an attraction toward a specific activity or thing, start doing it. How does it make you feel? It’s kind of like falling in love. When you know, you just know.

Turning Your Passion Into Your Career

Now, turning a passion into a business is an entirely different thing. If you want to do this, and create an income doing something you truly love (which is what I have been doing for the past 5 years), you can! It just takes a ton of hard work and strategy. It also takes constant learning and growing as a person. You always have to challenge yourself. But, if you really LOVE the main thing, it will carry you through. You will want to succeed because the passion for it will always be there. I don’t think I could handle the stress and all of the unknowns of owning a business if I didn’t truly love the work I do.

I hope this post got your wheels turning if you’ve been thinking about your passions and how you can incorporate them into your life more regularly. Whether it’s purely for fun or to create a dream career for yourself, I’m cheering you on! I also offer small business consulting if you ever want some help getting started.

Much love,
Ashley
